Dawson's Fish Alert can be adapted to almost all types of fishing. You
are only limited by your imagination. To get the most out of your Fish
Alert, whatever you adapt it to, the unit must fit snuggly and have
no excess movement. This will result in the alarm being activated with
the slightest tug.
You can set the tension as light as you like. The tension can also be
set to counteract tide flow, winds, etc so as to activate
ONLY when a fish bites!
You may find you are losing your bait without the Dawson's Fish Alert
being activated. In most cases, this is because small fish are nibbling
at your bait. Rig up smaller and set the tensioner to it's lightest
setting. You will find out whatever is down there. Remember, return
the little ones to grow and fight another day.
The only way to reduce the volume of the alarm is partially/fully cover
the hole of the alarm with tape. The alarm is situated on the underside
of the unit.
Most tackle stores and boat retailers sell rod holders for your boat,
large & small. You will require a rod holder that is straight, and
not angled, to take the stalk of the Fish Alert.
You may require a little maintenance after a number of uses. Your Fish
Alert may not activate as readily as before. Occasionally, lift the
stem of the switch, spray with a lubricant and wipe with a soft cloth.
Work the switch up and down a few times. The same applies to the tensioner
components.
Your Dawson's Fish Alert is water resistant and test models were setup
in the rain for days. However, do not immerse it in
water.
